Co-organized by  the IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing (GRSS) Algeria Chapter and The Algerian Space Agency (ASAL) and the Algerian Association of Geoscience and Remote sensing (AAGRS), the 4th Algerian Geoscience and Remote Sensing Spring School (4th AGR3S 2021) will be held from 10 to 14 July 2021 (4 days), at the University of Salah BOUBNIDER, Constantine 3 in Algeria.

The AGR3S 2021 will host highly recognized experts and lecturers, their main focus will be on geoscience and remote sensing and their applications in different scopes:

Farid MELGANI received the State Engineer degree in electronics from the University of Batna, Batna, Algeria, in 1994; the M.Sc. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Baghdad, Baghdad, Iraq, in 1999; and the Ph.D. degree in electronic and computer engineering from the University of Genoa, Genoa, Italy, in 2003. From 1999 to 2002, he was with the Signal Processing and Telecommunications Group, Department of Biophysical and Electronic Engineering, University of Genoa. Since 2002, he has been with the University of Trento, Trento, Italy, first as an Assistant Professor and then as an Associate Professor of telecommunications, where he has taught pattern recognition, machine learning, radar remote-sensing systems, and digital transmission. He is the Head of the Signal Processing and Recognition Laboratory with the Department of Information Engineering and Computer Science, University of Trento. He is a coauthor of more than 170 scientific publications and is a referee for numerous international journals. His research interests include remote sensing, signal/image processing, pattern recognition, machine learning, and computer vision. Dr. Melgani has served on the scientific committees of several international conferences and is an Associate Editor of the IEEE GEOSCIENCE AND REMOTE SENSING LETTERS and the International Journal of Remote Sensing.

Dr. Rachid Hedjam received his Masters degree in Computer Science and Operations Research from the University of Montreal (Canada) in 2009. He then joined the Synchromedia Laboratory for Multimedia Communication in Telepresence” at the École de technologie supérieure (ETS, University of Quebec) and got his Ph.D. degree in 2013 with highest honor. He was awarded by FQRNT doctoral scholarship and ETS scholarships. He has received numerous academic awards during his doctoral and postdoctoral studies. In October 2013, he began his postdoctoral research at the Department of Geography (Laboratory of Applied Remote Sensing) at McGill University (Canada), where he worked on multispectral image processing and pattern recognition for cultural heritage preservation, forensic and remote sensing. His research was funded by FQRNT. Since September 2017, he joined the computer science department at Sultan Qaboos University (Sultanate of Oman) as assistant professor. He is conducting various research projects in machine learning, namely clustering, classification and change detection with an application to network security and remote sensing. His is also a member of IEEE GRSS.

Daouda SYLLA was born in Odiénné, Côte d’Ivoire. In 2000, he received his M.Sc. degree of Physical Geography at the Institute of Tropical Geography (IGT) from University Félix Houphouët-Boigny, Côte d’Ivoire. In 2003, he obtained two Diplomas of Advanced Studies (DAS): the first one in Physical Geography at the Institute of Tropical Geography (IGT) from University Félix Houphouët-Boigny and the second one in Remote Sensing and GIS at the CURAT (Centre Universitaire de Recherche et d'Application en Télédétection) from University Félix Houphouët-Boigny. In 2012, he obtained a Ph.D. degree in Remote Sensing at the University of Sherbrook, Qc, CANADA. Mehrez Zribi is a Director of Research in CNRS (French National Scientific Research Center). He received the B.E. degree in signal processing from Institut supérieur de l'aéronautique et de l'espace (ENSICA), Toulouse, France in 1995, and the Ph.D. degree from the Université Paul Sabatier, Toulouse, in 1998. In 1995, he joined the Centre d’Etude des Environnements Terrestre et Planétaires Laboratory [Institut Pierre Simon Laplace/CNRS], Vélizy, France. In 2001, he joined CNRS organism to develop microwave remote sensing research applied to land surface. Since October 2008, he has been with the Centre d’Etudes Spatiales de la Biosphère, Toulouse. During the period (2008-2012), he was with the French Institute of Research for Developement to develop researches in water resources based on remote sensing in semi-arid regions. He is member of different research committees (CSTA, THEIA ...). He has published actively in refereed journals with high impact factor (125 papers). He coordinated publication of 20 books about remote sensing for land surfaces. He coordinated and participated to several research projects funded by different research programs (CNES, ANR, ESA, FP5, FP6, FP7 etc). He is associated editor for three international journals (Geophysical instrumentation, Methods and data systems (EGU), Nature/Scientific Reports and Remote Sensing/MDPI). He is senior member of IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing. He is Deputy Director of CESBIO laboratory. His research interests include: - Remote sensing signal processing ; - Backscattering electromagnetic modelling ; - Inversion of radar signals for land surface characterization ; - GNSS-R land surface applications ; - Airborne microwave instrumentation.

He received the bachelor’s degree in applied mathematics from the Université Es-Sénia, Oran, in 2000, the M.Sc. degree in signal and image processing from Université Paul Sabatier Toulouse 3, Toulouse, France, in 2007, the magister’s degree in signal and image processing from the Université des Sciences et de la Technologie, Oran, in 2008, and the Ph.D. degree in signal and image processing from Université Paul Sabatier Toulouse 3 in 2012, co-supervised with the Université des Sciences et de la Technologie.,Since 2001, he has been a Senior Researcher with the Center des Techniques Spatiales, Arzew, Algeria.
